Maple calculators

Free tools for sap yield, blending, and dilution — modeled after the Cornell Maple Program calculators. Use them in the browser; no download required.

Sap to Syrup Yield

Find how much syrup you’ll get from your sap based on sugar content. Uses the Rule of 86; finished syrup at 66° brix.

Density Blending

Blend two syrups (or syrup and water/sap) to hit a target brix. Any volume unit works as long as it’s consistent.

Dilution

Determine how much water to add to bring syrup to the desired density. For diluting with sap, use the density blending calculator.

Grade Blending

Blend by light transmittance % to reach a target grade. Use a Hanna meter; for best results, measure a 50/50 blend first.

Invert Blending

Blend two syrups to hit a target invert sugar level for maple candy, cream, or other confections.

Season Syrup Potential

Estimate how much syrup you might make this season from tap count, sap per tap, and average sugar content.

Sap Buy Price

Suggested price per gallon to pay when purchasing sap from a landowner, based on bulk syrup price and sap brix.

Syrup Retail Pricing

From bulk syrup price and bottle size, get cost per bottle and a suggested retail price. Adjust markup to match your market.

Track your production with Sapline

Plan your season, log sap and syrup, and use weather and predictions — all in one place.
