About Sapline

Why we're building this

Sapline exists because maple production deserves better tools—tools that understand the realities of the work and respect the traditions behind it.

The problem we saw

Maple syrup production is one of the few agricultural practices that still depends heavily on reading natural conditions and making time-sensitive decisions. The difference between a good season and a great one often comes down to being ready when conditions align.

Yet most producers are running their operations with the same tools their grandparents used: notebooks, memory, and intuition. While there's wisdom in tradition, there's also an opportunity to augment that wisdom with better information.

Generic farm management software doesn't fit. Consumer maple apps are novelties. What producers need is a purpose-built operational platform—one that understands the rhythm of the season and the realities of the work.

What we believe

Software should support judgment, not replace it

You know your land, your trees, and your operation better than any algorithm ever will. Sapline's job is to give you better information and clearer visibility—the decisions remain yours.

Simplicity is a feature

The season is demanding enough. Your tools shouldn't add complexity. We focus on what actually helps and leave out what doesn't.

Knowledge should compound

Every season teaches something. Sapline helps capture that learning so it's not lost when memory fades or people move on.

Built for the long run

Sugaring is a generational pursuit. We're building Sapline with the same long-term thinking—a platform that will be useful for decades, not just seasons.

The long-term vision

We're building Sapline to become the operational memory and intelligence layer for maple production. A platform that learns from every season, helps producers make better decisions, and preserves institutional knowledge across generations.

This isn't about replacing the craft or the judgment that comes from experience. It's about giving producers better tools to do what they already do well—and making it easier to pass that knowledge on.

Built with producers

Sapline is being developed in close collaboration with working maple producers across New England and Quebec. Every feature is tested against real operational needs. We're not building in a vacuum—we're building with the people who will use it.
